{"id":1875,"date":"2011-09-27T13:31:34","date_gmt":"2011-09-27T17:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/?p=1875"},"modified":"2011-09-27T13:31:34","modified_gmt":"2011-09-27T17:31:34","slug":"work-those-lines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/2011\/09\/work-those-lines\/","title":{"rendered":"Work those Lines!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Design, you should always be encouraged to take a good look at the \u00a0<strong>lines<\/strong> in a photograph that you\u2019re trying to combine with text and graphics.<\/p>\n<p>Repetition is one of the most important design principles and this is a natural implementation of that idea. By analyzing the photo and following its directionality, you sometimes can find incredibly easy ways to make your graphics and text look truly integrated, as if the image was created expressly for the purpose you\u2019re using it for, a great illusion !<\/p>\n<p>The first step using the lines in a photo is to analyze the image\u2019s content and use any hard lines to help align your artwork in a very literal fashion.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that not every image will lend itself to the technique. However, learning to be more aware of how the existing content in a photograph can be used to guide and inspire you to create unique designs that break away from the cookie cutter mold that\u2019s so easy to fall into.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look using first,\u00a0\u00a0some easy analysis<\/p>\n<p>The bricks in this photo form natural blocks. Instead, we see a very defined pyramid take shape.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1879\" href=\"http:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/2011\/09\/work-those-lines\/photolines-8\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1879\" title=\"photolines-8\" src=\"http:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/photolines-8-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/photolines-8-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/photolines-8-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.archimediastudios.com\/corporate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/photolines-8.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can use this shape as inspiration for how we place our text on the page, just as we did with the bird photo. To do this, draw the lines that make up the triangle, then copy that triangle and place it in the area to the left. Instead, my lines of text seemed to naturally conform to an almost diamond shape, and that\u2019s completely acceptable.
